Hidden Among the Green

A Quiet Transformation

A Vision in the Making

Tucked along a peaceful terrace, this home feels almost like a hidden chapter waiting to be discovered. Framed by layers of surrounding greenery, it carries a certain stillness – the kind that makes you slow down as you step inside.

When the clients came to us, the house was already in the midst of a full renovation, with an extension taking shape and a clear vision beginning to unfold. From the very beginning, it was a collaborative process – working closely with the builder, refining ideas as the space evolved, and ensuring every decision felt considered within the wider transformation of the home.

There was an instinctive clarity to the clients’ choices. Each one felt natural and connected, always tying back to the landscape just beyond its walls. Our role was to bring that vision into the kitchen, allowing it to feel cohesive with the rest of the house while still holding its own sense of purpose.

Where the Space Begins to Shift

As the layout developed, it became clear that the kitchen would be guided by light and direction.

The herringbone floor, laid with intention, leads the eye towards the rear window and the greenery beyond, subtly elongating the room. As daylight moves through the space, leafy silhouettes dance across the floor, creating a gentle, shifting pattern that brings a sense of movement and life.

The design followed this same principle – keeping pathways open, sightlines uninterrupted, and allowing the room to feel easy to move through. A breakfast bar was positioned to make the most of the view, offering a place to sit, work, or simply pause with a coffee while staying connected to the space.

A Palette That Glows

Material choices brought warmth and softness without overwhelming the simplicity of the design.

Stone grey, smooth shaker cabinetry forms the foundation – classic in its shape, but fresh in its finish. It provides a calm, understated backdrop that allows the finer details to come forward.

Layered into this are warm metallic accents. Brushed brass handles and a matching tap introduce a soft glow, while bronze drawer interiors add an unexpected richness when opened. The bronze mirror splashback along the hob wall reflects both light and movement, giving the room added depth without heaviness.

The Eternal Calacatta Gold Silestone worktops tie everything together. Pale and polished, with delicate gold veining running through, they echo the warmth of the metal finishes and bring a quiet sense of continuity across the space.

Designed for the Everyday

While the overall feel is refined, the kitchen is grounded in practicality.

A Neff slide-and-hide oven keeps walkways clear, allowing movement through the space to remain uninterrupted. The Fisher & Paykel American fridge freezer offers generous storage while maintaining the clean, streamlined look, its brushed steel surface subtly reflecting light back into the room.

Every element has been considered not just for how it looks, but how it lives. From the placement of appliances to the flow between zones, the space works effortlessly from morning through to evening.

Now complete, the kitchen sits naturally within the rhythm of the home. It feels aligned with its surroundings – shaped by light, softened by texture, and connected to the greenery just beyond the doors.

It’s a space that reflects the journey it took to get there: collaborative, carefully considered, and quietly transformative in all the right ways.

From the home owner:

“I wanted to work with a local company to ensure I was able to contact them quickly and have face to face meetings if needed. The city centre location is easy for me to get to. I dealt directly with Mizzie throughout, she was always available to talk with me and was quick to answer any questions.

Mizzie dealt with a change of design late in the day. I thought it was a minor change, it might not have been minor but I never knew any different and didn’t have any worries, as Mizzie dealt directly with the builders to make the change happen without any stress on my part.” – Mr and Mrs F.
